Bounce surfaces
Surfaces that bounce you off instead of stopping you. Inspired by Kinetic's "bounce dimension" and by trampolines in platformers.
How it works#
| Where | surfaces marked as bounce, like slick surfaces are marked as ice |
| What | the part of your speed going into the surface is reflected instead of lost |
| Floors | landing on a bounce floor sends you back up: no landing, no friction, no fall damage |
| Walls | a bounce wall reflects you sideways, keeping your speed |
| Stick | crouch to land normally on a bounce floor |
| Slow | below a minimum impact speed you land normally, so you can stand on it |
Different from jump pads#
Classic jump pads launch you along a fixed arc whatever your speed. A bounce surface keeps your speed and angle, so the skill stays with you.
In maps#
- Bounce and ice: a slick bowl with bounce walls, a pinball of speed.
- Readable: bounce surfaces look rubbery with glowing edges and have their own sound.
