Jetpack
Flying upward while you hold a key, as long as you have fuel, on maps built for it.
How it works#
| Key | the jetpack key, held |
| Thrust | an upward push of 1000–1200 ups/s (set by the map), more than gravity's 800, applied every movement step; your upward speed is capped |
| Air control | normal air strafing while you fly |
| Fuel | seconds of thrust, shown on the HUD; refilled by fuel pickups or on landing, as the map decides |
In maps#
- Fuel pickups of different sizes, refuel zones, and no-fly zones.
- Fuel is the limit: the skill is when you burn it.
- Tribes-style: ski down an icy slope, jet up the next one. Speed and height, traded back and forth.
Where it comes from#
The UJM map ut4_jetjumps_b3 built a jetpack out of server triggers: hold Walk to fly, 25 ups upward about every 24 ms while rising slower than 450 ups, fuel boxes of different colours that don't stack, and a fuel box that also saves your position. Airtime's jetpack is the same idea, built into the movement itself, so it's smooth at every frame rate and replays exactly.
