Ledges and ladders
Ledge grab#
- Grab: in the air, holding forward, with a wall within 4 units in front at eye height, free space 8 units above and ahead of it, and the ledge wide enough (probes 12 units to each side). Your vertical speed is set to 0 and you hang.
- Hang: no gravity. Forward climbs at 70 ups, back lowers you.
- Pull-up: after climbing 50 units above the grab point you're released on top, **forced crouched**.
- Let go: release forward, crouch, or sink more than 5 units below the grab point. You get a small push away from the wall (25 ups).
Ledges are a safety net for near misses: you lose your speed but keep the run. On speed lines they cost time.
Ladders#
- Surfaces marked as ladders (
SURF_LADDER), not volumes. - Instant stop when you get on, climb at 150 ups (slower with a light key press).
- Jump off: a push of 50 ups away from the ladder. No stamina cost.
- Snapping onto a ladder resets the walljump counter, like landing.
In Airtime maps#
Ladders are a piece in the map editor. Ladders in Urban Terror maps work exactly as there.
